The missing chapter in recovery
What comes after treatment matters
Many people leave treatment motivated to move forward but face immediate challenges of stable housing, employment, transportation, and support.
The Second Story Foundation develops programs that help people navigate those challenges and continue building toward long-term recovery.
The Second Story Foundation focuses on strengthening the systems and resources that help people sustain recovery after treatment. Through recovery housing, workforce development, transportation assistance, and community-based support services, the Foundation works to create practical pathways toward long-term stability and independence.
The flagship initiative, the 2nd Story Ranch Recovery Home & Jobs Program, is being developed in Crete, Illinois. Located on a working horse farm, the program combines structured recovery housing, meaningful work, peer support, and daily accountability in an environment designed to help residents build confidence, responsibility, and self-sufficiency.
The Foundation also develops complementary initiatives that address barriers beyond housing. Together, these efforts expand recovery infrastructure, strengthen local communities, and create opportunities for people to establish productive and independent lives.
